Thanks to our over-litigious society, the bag of pistachio nuts I bought over the weekend contains the following warning:
Allergen Alert: Contains pistachios
Having grown up with a sister who was allergic to everything, I'm all for allergen labeling so people aren't exposed to foods without their knowledge, but is it really necessary to treat us all like we're idiots?

Having had the two highly allergic kids and the 2 epi kits I welcomed when I could actually read contains peanuts or made in a factory containing peanuts even if the product was peanuts because with the new labeling if that was not there then it could be assumed to be safe. I'm still waiting for labeling on knives--Caution knives can be sharp and have been known to cut things.
